Family Electricity Audit

Audit your household electricity use: read meters, calculate costs, compare appliances, and find real ways to save. Kids learn about kilowatt-hours, unit pricing, and the maths behind energy bills. Practical environmental maths that makes a real difference at home.

What's inside.

  • ✓Household electricity audit guide
  • ✓Meter reading and usage tracking
  • ✓Appliance comparison and cost calculations
  • ✓

What they are actually learning.

Your child audits what your house actually spends on electricity, appliance by appliance. Watts times hours, then kilowatt-hours times the rate, and suddenly the numbers on the bill mean something. Then they rank the appliances, find where the waste is, and build a plan to cut it.

  • Number Sense: Multiplying watts by hours and kilowatt-hours by the rate, then dividing to get averages and per-day costs
  • Organisation: Recording appliance data in tables, then sorting and ranking by what it costs
  • Percentages: Working out what share of the total each appliance is responsible for
  • Problem-Solving: Turning the findings into practical changes with estimated savings attached
Why it matters

When maths lives in real money, real measurements, and real decisions, it stops being a worksheet and becomes a tool. A kid who uses it to get something they actually want remembers it for life, and they did it with you. That is the moment "I taught my kid something real" starts to feel possible.
