Life skills for kids ages 11 to 16+
Adolescence is the second major period of brain reorganization after early childhood. The prefrontal cortex, responsible for planning, impulse control, and long-term thinking, is still developing well into the mid-twenties. This means teens are biologically wired for risk-taking, peer sensitivity, and emotional intensity. That is not a flaw. It is a feature. How life skills actually develop
Life skills do not develop through instruction. They develop through experience, repetition, and gradually increasing independence. Understanding how this process works helps you recognize real skill-building when you see it, even when it does not look like "learning."
